Small talk, big outcomes
I saw a fascinating article in the Sunday Times yesterday -”Let’s hear it for the small talk!” Personal relationships, it says, are vital in cultivating contacts and building a career, so we need to master the art of breaking the ice.

Small talk is sometimes seen as trivial, but actually it’s an important part of building relationships. Opening conversations, closing conversations or filling the gap – an opportunity to demonstrate cultural intelligence. Small talk involves being a good listener. Companies increasingly sending top talent off to relearn the art of face to face communication.
The least skilled small talkers are the younger generations, lacking in interpersonal skills as a result of spending too much time in front of a screen…do you agree?
