A week of hard yards and hard-won cash

In recent days, I have been proud to have played a small part in a great #team experience. 19 cricketing Dads from #StAlbans have walked close to 100 miles over 4 days along the length of the famous Ridgeway National Trail. We are now very close to achieving our target of £25,000 raised for two local hospice charities.

There were times when it felt that the distance to walk was too great. So we passed the time by talking about anything and everything to keep us focused and cheerful – even singing songs as we walked. The time went more quickly and we got there.

As for the money, 4 weeks ago we were absolutely nowhere near our fundraising target. So we got busy in all sorts of different ways to bring forth donations from friends & family & colleagues – & lots of kind strangers donated to us along the route of the walk itself. The funds came in more quickly and we got there.

It was one of the most positive team experiences I have ever had. We
worked well with one another, without ego and took responsibility for what we had each agreed to do. Have you ever worked together in a team and achieved something of which you are really proud? Work or play – I’d love to know what made it a great team experience.
